Dronfield Hall Barn in Dronfield, near Chesterfield is one of my absolute favourite Derbyshire wedding venues to photograph beautiful weddings at!

About Dronfield Hall Barn
A stunning stone agricultural building set back from the main road which has been respectfully restored to perfection and dates back to the early 18th century, it has so much character and charm and is located right in the heart of the historic market town.

The main barn building has a fine sandstone outer wall with its spectacular internal Medieval timber frame secret hidden away within.
The large wooden beams wrapped with twinkle lights and king post timbers dating from 1430 suggest the presence of a high status Medieval Hall on the site and give a truly rustic yet opulent backdrop to your wedding ceremony.

Whatever the weather or time of year, from Prosecco and Champagne in the barns beautiful gardens during the warmer months to cosy winter weddings with dramatic skies and intimate romantic portraits around the woodland garden areas, you can rest assured you will receive a stunning gallery of wedding photographs.

The entire site of the barn is made exclusively available to the happy couple and your wedding guests including a lovely stone courtyard with lots of seating for everyone to relax in. Beautifully maintained gardens with majestic old trees, winding stone pathways and secluded hideaways which look so photogenic spring, summer, autumn or winter.
At the very top of the garden are beautiful wooden arches which lead into gorgeous wildflower area, a romantic little woodland walk for you both to have some time together to let it all sink in after saying ‘‘I do!’’

Getting married at Dronfield Hall Barn
The wedding ceremony room at Dronfield Hall Barn is just absolutely stunning.
Solid oak original beams are adorned with twinkle fairy lights and lots of seating for family and guests provided either side of the aisle.
There are two entrance stairways so there is no risk of accidentally bumping into each other before the ceremony and no windows looking out over the driveway so you can arrive safely in style without all of your wedding guests grabbing a sneak preview!
As with any gorgeous barn venue, lighting can be a little tricky so I bring along some very discreet off camera flash to ensure that you are perfectly exposed whilst keeping the ambience of the twinkle lights and all the lovely tones of the room as you can see in these photographs.

Spacious with high ceilings, the ceremony room can also act as the perfect location for family and friend group photographs later in the day if the weather over Chesterfield takes a turn for the worse.
I bring along additional professional lighting so indoor group pictures are flattering and pleasing to look at.

Olivia the lovely Events Manager at the barn and all of her staff are absolutely incredible, they create such a relaxed and stress free environment, they are with you all the way, nothing is ever too much trouble and everyone works none stop to ensure your perfect day goes like clockwork.

Creative Sunset & Twilight Photography at Dronfield Hall Barn
As an experienced Chesterfield wedding photographer my style is creative and very relaxed.
I have a great sense of humour and a strong work ethic and ensure I capture every detail of the day for you, taking beautiful shots of the two of you as the venue dressing changes throughout the day. I especially love making the most of any sunset opportunities and as a relaxed wedding photographer I make the most of the evening drawing in and the skies over Chesterfield turn to dusk to use off camera flash to create dramatic ‘wow’ shots of just the two of you.
The blue hour makes a gorgeous backdrop to the venue when it is all lit up and sunsets add a little romance if the weather permits. I set up these more technical photographs in your absence, so you are only away from your wedding guests for a matter of minutes.

Are sparklers allowed at the barn?
They are indeed!
I love a good sparkler exit and there are lots of great areas around the barn to get everyone lined up and lit up. The best advice I can give is ensure you buy the long burn variety, they can last as much as two or three minutes which means you don’t have to rush to get everyone lit at the same time. It also means you can get two or three walks through without having to run, always a bonus when combining sticks of fire with people who have had a little to drink haha!

The gardens of at Dronfield Barn look beautiful all year around and there is always a backdrop of colour blended perfectly with the rustic stone walls and gateways.
Whilst I always take the formal group shots which we work through and decide on in advance as part of your consultation to make everything flow stress free on the wedding day, I also love to get creative with the wedding party photographs too, creating some more relaxed pictures to really capture the spirit of your day.
It may seem a bit odd on the day when I start dragging chairs out onto the lawn but they are always the group shots couples absolutely love and share when I send through their wedding galleries!

Whilst you relax out on the courtyard, the team at the barn transform the upstairs wedding breakfast room into a dance floor ready for you to enjoy your first song together.
Whether you choose to have a DJ or a live band, the upper floor is the perfect setting for a romantic dance and lots of room to party on into the night.

What if it rains on my Dronfield Hall Barn Chesterfield wedding day?
If you hire a great wedding photographer for your Dronfield Hall Barn wedding then there’s absolutely no need to worry. Its England and chances of a little more rainy or windy weather increase as we go later into the year , don’t panic though as it becomes an opportunity to get out the weather sealed camera kit and create some truly beautiful and unique wedding photographs.
So, if you do pull back the curtains on your big day to find it’s throwing it down don’t panic.
The creative off camera flash comes out along with the strobes and an umbrella or two and between us we will create beautiful and dramatic ‘wow’ shots of the two of you both inside and outside of the venue.
I set up all the required lighting without you and then fire some test shots to check everything looks great, that way you are outdoors for as little time as possible, I just walk you into the shot, take it and then you can get back to the party!

Getting Ready at The Manor House Hotel
All of the below photographs were taken in the grounds of the Manor House Hotel or the Hepburn Suite at the Manor house which has lovely tall bright windows for lots of natural light.
The Manor House is a gorgeous Grade II listed hotel and bar situated right across the road from Dronfield Hall Barn, a 30 second walk even in the highest of wedding heels!

It is perfectly situated as a base to stay over the night before your barn wedding ceremony and also a short drive into the city of Sheffield or Chesterfield for a relaxing drink and a bite to eat.
The Manor House also has its own large private car park at the rear of the property with additional free parking located just around the corner in the town centre.
The rustically styled café lounge opens early to serves breakfast and is also open all day every day for teas, coffees & hot drinks, plus a wide selection of cakes and other tempting treats.
Each hotel room has been individually designed around the traditional features, and offers free wi-fi so you can post all those bridal and groom prep photographs straight to social media!
