Hi, I’m Mat

Where to start… I’m originally from Chesterfield but craved some Monaco style glitz and glamour so I moved my family 8 miles up the road to Mansfield near Nottingham. Not much has changed apart from the postman now calls me ‘‘cocker’’ instead of ‘‘duck’’ and ‘‘cobs’’ are now ‘‘baps’’ (I know right, I mean what the!?!)

I live with my amazing wife Sam, our three lovely kids, Amelie 9, Arthur10 and Nellie-Jo 16 who are my absolute world, ohhh and our daft dog Nigel 3 who I’m not actually that keen on to be honest!

I’ve recently (reluctantly) crept into my 40’s and having been a photographer for 28 of those years I have a wealth of technical and practical experience to call on when it comes to capturing your perfect day, I mean seriously, come storms, lightening, snow or heatwave you are going to get amazing pictures!

In my spare time I’m a bit of a 1980/90’s German classic car nerd and enjoy nothing more than banging on a good audio book and pulling engines apart. These are my mint 1990 BMW E30 straight six coupe which I’ve done a nut and bolt restoration on and my trusty 1988 Mk2 Golf GTi, both will be with me forever, or until the kids stick me in an old folks home and sell them!

Weddings are where my hearts at though, there’s nothing else that comes close to the excitement of documenting such a special and amazing emotion charged day.  I love being in the middle of everything, listening out for moments kicking off and getting them creatively and unobtrusively captured forever. I love the mixture of photography I get to deliver throughout the wedding day and always challenging myself to create something completely unique for my couples.

I have a really strong work ethic, a very easy-going nature and love to laugh so my sense of humour makes for a genuinely relaxed and fun experience. I think that’s really important. I’m going to be with you the whole day, more than any of your other wedding suppliers and the last thing you want is a wedding photographer you can’t totally relax around, laugh and have a lot of fun with.

Ohhh, and its absolutely ridiculous that I would even have to mention this but I’m all about ‘‘love is love’’ and all the combinations of people that make up my amazing couples, my eldest daughter is the LGBTQ ambassador at her secondary school, she’s a little legend and I couldn’t possibly be any more proud.

I’m a registered member of ‘‘The Guild of Wedding Photographers’’ and have won numerous awards from ‘‘The Guilds’’ prestigious international image of the month competition in the wedding category.

Just one final thing before I sign off, every single photograph in my wedding gallery is taken by me at a real wedding, there are no workshop images, fake styled wedding shoots or models, you might not realise this is a thing but what you see in my gallery is ‘‘100% Dickenson’s Real Deal’’ and representative of the creative and high standard you can expect to receive on your wedding day.
