Derby & Nottingham Barn or Farm Wedding Photographer Near Me

I have had the pleasure of photographing some beautiful barn and farm weddings and thought it would be useful to show some of my favourite ideas I have seen for inspiration to future brides and grooms.

Wildflowers, crop fields, twinkle lights, hay bails, wooden letters and beautiful sunsets all help add that rustic feel and relaxed atmosphere to your wedding day and can help transform your wedding venue into something truly unique!

I Absolutely Love Photographing Weddings in Big Barns and on Working Farms!

Nottingham, Sheffield and Derby have some really beautiful barn and farm venues and they are always so unique, lots of rustic beams, gorgeous surroundings and have a relaxed happy atmosphere.

Whether you have chosen a converted barn made of red brick or stone or you are putting your own stamp on things and transforming your very own a working cow shed into something truly stunning with drapes, rustic table centre pieces and farm machinery for your wedding day it will be unique and amazing!

  1. Barn and Farm Wedding Top Ideas As The Evening Draws In

Some great ideas that I have seen at farm weddings I have photographed over the last year:

  • Open fire pits for guests to sit around and chat as the night draws in - even better if you add marsh mellows on sticks!

  • Big open brick BBQ’s

  • Fun games to keep the kids entertained (my favourite so far was a coconut shy!)

  • Lots (and lots!) of twinkle lights… ideally battery powered so you can string them in trees

All of these make for great photographs as the night draws in, creating a really relaxed feel as golden hour set in with everyone outside laughing and enjoying the early evening air so maybe think about incorporating some with drinks as the sun finally sets to get everyone involved.

2. Tents & Teepee’s

Tents and teepees are also a lovely retreat for the bride and groom or close family as the evening celebrations finally draw to a close… who wouldn’t like to spend their first night together glamping under the stars!? Alternatively tents can make a great little retreat for your guests to enjoy during the day when the dancing all gets too much.

Farm and Barn Wedding Photography Near Derby, Sheffield and Nottingham

As a professional Derby and Nottingham wedding photographer I have almost three decades of experience so there is no limit to how creative we can get on your wedding day. I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful Nottingham farm wedding which had a large steel wind turbine in their crop field for us to make use of, we grabbed this shot just as a dramatic stormy sky rolled in at sunset.

3. Bring The Ceremony Outside

If the weather looks favourable you can plan to bring your wedding outside and make the most of the scenery, there is something very romantic about saying ‘I do!’ in the sunshine surrounded by all of your family with crop fields, woodland, farm machinery and gorgeous skies painting the perfect backdrop to your ceremony.

4. Use The Rustic Environment in your Wedding Portraits

There are always lots of amazing features to make use of on farms to produce some truly stunning photographs. Farm land views across Derby and Nottingham crop fields to the horizon make for perfect cornfield sunsets if the weather is on our side.

Rusty old farm machinery, tractors, trailers, hay bails and bar gates all make great props for some really unique portraits.

5. Log Table Centres and Cake Stands

Log slices make perfect table centrepieces and wedding cake stands adding perfectly to your rustic theme

6. Traditional Rustic Attire

Groom and groomsmen dressed in traditional rustic inspired suits helps add a really authentic feel to your ceremony. Tweed suits, waistcoats and button hole favours with leafy green textures or corn are the perfect finishing touch. Brown leather shoes help to tie everything together.

7. Reclaimed Wooden Signs and Guestbooks

A wooden wedding day sign blends in with the rest of your rustic theme. Its the first thing your friends and family will see and so sets the tone for the rest of you barn or farm wedding theme. Added to the signs, a rustic wooden covered guest book will look gorgeous on the day of your wedding and is also a perfect keepsake to remind you of your perfect day for years to come.
