Whitley Hall Hotel is one of South Yorkshires most beautiful wedding venues, hidden away in a gorgeous countryside location and surrounded by perfectly kept gardens it really is a Sheffield wedding photographers dream come true!

As an experienced Sheffield wedding photographer I get to photograph at many wonderful venues and Whitley Hall is absolutely one of the very best, as soon as you see it from the winding countryside road, its long drive way, perfect lawns and the main building steeped in history just grab your attention.

All about Whitley Hall Hotel
One Of Sheffield’s Most Beautiful Houses Sat Right In The Middle Of 20 Acres Of Gorgeous Maintained Gardens With Two Private Lakes It Was The First Location In Sheffield To Hold Civil Ceremonies In 1995!
Dating back to the 16th century the building has beautiful original features which leave you spoilt for choice when creating stunning bride and groom photographic portraits, from the elegant staircase to the bright ceremony room Whitley Hall has it covered.
A real all seasons venue, the courtyard is surrounded on three sides by the original house walls, clad in ivy they create a stunning backdrop for your wedding photography when basking in the sunshine. You can usually count on one of the peacocks making an appearance too adding a unique feature to a few of your beautiful wedding photographs.
Just one final mention, the staff at Whitley Hall are fantastic, a dedicated team of professionals manage your unforgettable day from start to finish, nothing is too much trouble and they make sure everything is completely stress free and goes like clockwork.
Wedding Photography Ideas at Whitley Hall Hotel
Whit such a historic building full of original features and the incredible gardens offering a setting for beautiful wedding photography you really are spoilt for choice. The outdoor ceremony area looks absolutely incredible draped in string lights, it’s such a romantic setting, the orange glow of lights and the gorgeous big pergola.

Equally beautiful is the indoor wedding ceremony room, so if the weather is not looking great or you are planning a gorgeous winter wedding there is always a perfect plan B on hand!
There is not a lot of natural light in the ceremony room so it’s important to choose a wedding photographer who is experienced and has the right equipment to deliver beautifully lit pictures of the most important part of your day indoors or outside and whatever the weather and you can read more about how I work on a rainy day below.

If the ceremony is indoors, as an experienced Sheffield wedding photographer I have the technical expertise and have invested in professional lighting equipment and low light cameras to ensure that you receive perfectly lit images as you say your vows and take your first kiss.
For indoor ceremonies the lighting I use is discreet and flattering, my aim is for your family and friends to remain focussed on you… no one wants to have direct camera flash in their face throughout the ceremony as it’s distracting and creates harsh unflattering images.

At Whitley Hall after your ceremony you have a whole private area of the grounds to relax, enjoy the food and catch up with all your guests. The whole team go out of their way to ensure everything runs absolutely perfectly, from your wedding co-ordinator to the bar staff and kitchen team nothing is ever too much trouble.
The courtyard area is beautiful, the original manor house on three sides with a sundial over the entrance and a paved pathway area, the perfect spot to relax, take some lovely photographs and let the excitement of your wedding ceremony sink in.
You may even get a guest appearance from Paddy the Peacock!

I offer engagement shoots and it’s the perfect opportunity to get a feel for being in front of the camera for some relaxed fun pictures.

Winter Weddings with a Christmas feel at Whitley Hall
One stunning feature of the Christmas decorations at Whitley Hall is the large festive tree in the centre of the courtyard.
It looks incredible draped in hundreds of twinkle lights and matching festive decorations. I love to sneak couples outside for a moment in the evening just as twilight sets in for a romantic shot under the Christmas lights.
There are lots of other little areas such as the pergola nestled in trees, a paved terrace area and the incredible main staircase all of which are decorated to offer a romantic festive feel for relaxed intimate pictures of just the two of you.
What if it rains on my Whitley Hall Sheffield Wedding Day!
If you hire a great wedding photographer for your Whitley Hall wedding then there’s absolutely no need to worry. If you are planning a late autumn or winter wedding the chances increase a little but a rainy windy wedding day becomes an opportunity to get out the weather sealed camera kit and create some truly beautiful and unique wedding photographs.
So, if you do pull back the curtains on your big day to find it’s throwing it down don’t stress! The creative off camera flash comes out along with the strobes and an umbrella or two and between us we will create beautiful and dramatic ‘wow’ shots of the two of you both inside and outside of the venue.
I set up all the required lighting without you, that way you are outdoors for as little time as possible, I just walk you into the shot, take it and then you can get back to the party!
Importantly I also bring along lots of additional lighting for indoor group shots when the forecast looks wet.
The great thing about Whitley Hall is there are so many options indoors for gorgeous candid photographs and using my professional lighting setup its possible to take beautiful flattering indoor formal group photographs.
Finding your way to Whitley Hall Hotel
Whitley Hall is really easy to access, being just 10 minutes from the M1 if you are not staying overnight then arriving in style in your chosen wedding car is easy passing through some beautiful countryside before arriving at the hotels long driveway.
